Doug Kazarosian - Director of Tennis. Doug has been named MVCC's new Director of Tennis. A tennis professional for twenty-six years, Doug has taught at the City of Boulder, Harvest House, Breckenridge Recreation Center, was the Director of Tennis at The Meadows Club and The Broomfield Swim and Tennis Club. As the Head Boys Tennis Coach at Boulder High School, Doug guided the team to two singles State Champions. As the Head Boys Tennis Coach at Broomfield High School, he won two regional championships. Doug was ranked #6 in men's 40 singles in 2013, and is a six-time district and state doubles champion. Doug is USPTA certified and USPTA wheelchair certified tennis professional and was the proud recipient of the 2014 Industry Excellence Award. Doug is an avid league player who enjoys tennis, music, fishing, cooking, and travelling with his wife and kids. Doug graduated from The University of Colorado in 1994 with a BA in Sociology.
Ed Skarwecki - Head Tennis Pro, Ed lives in Littleton, CO and has been a tennis pro for over 35 years. He has a wealth of experience teaching players of all ages and levels of play. Ed is a former National Satellite Circuit player and has been top ranked in many Colorado age divisions for both singles and doubles. He coached high school tennis for 24 years and is a certified USPTA Elite Tennis Professional. Ed is very excited to join the Mount Vernon Tennis Staff and share his enthusiasm for the game of tennis.
Travis Ervick - Tennis Professional, Welcome back to our ever popular Staff Professional, Travis Ervick, who returns for his fifth year conducting our MVCC junior tennis camps. Travis is USPTR certified as a 10 and under specialist; he likes to play hockey, lacrosse, tennis and coaching kids tennis! Travis attends the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Brandon Lupo - Tennis Professional, Brandon Lupo has been coaching tennis to all ages of players for 9 years. Brandon was recently an assistant coach for the women's team at the University of Northern Colorado, where he developed student athletes at the Division I level by using effective coaching techniques to critique and improve student athlete’s skill and performance during sports competition. He has also worked at the Broomfield Swim and Tennis Club alongside Doug Kazarosian where he taught a wide variety of players from novice to competitive, with an emphasis to have fun while playing the sport. He also has experience working as a high school coach working as a head coach at Monarch High School for both boys’ and girls’ varsity teams. Brandon's expertise comes from years of experience, playing tennis from the age of 3 and ultimately ending his competitive career as a college athlete at the University of Northern Colorado where he is the record holder at the school for most Division I wins at the number 1 singles position. While there, he also earned Big Sky Player of the Week along with Outstanding Athlete of the Year. His high school career at Broomfield High School allowed him to win a state championship his junior year and state runner up his senior year. Brandon is very excited to be working at Mount Vernon Country Club this summer and can't wait to have fun with anyone either desiring to learn the sport or wanting to make themselves a better player.
Lili Bell Shelton MVCC's Tennis Pro Emeritus - Lili was our Head Pro and Tennis Director for 23 years and built a tennis program that attracted hundreds of new players to the sport, developed strong adult and junior players. Lili was ranked in the top 100 on the WTA world tour and she participated in many major tournaments like the US Open, Australian Open, Japan Open, Canadian Open. Lili is available to teach private lessons at MVCC.
